Crews were out early this morning, battling a house fire in Cape Elizabeth at the home of a single mother.

WGME-TV reports crews were called to 45 Ocean House Road at around 3 o'clock this morning to a report of a house fire. The occupant is believed to be a single mother, who was out for the evening, so there was no worry of having to evacuate anyone inside.

Heavy fire kept crews from getting inside the building as they worked to extinguish flames that covered the front of the building. A firefighter injured his hand while battling the fire and was taken to the hospital.

The State Fire Marshal's Office will now work to determine what sparked the blaze.
