An Oxford man died in a fire at his home Wednesday evening, according to the State Fire Marshall's office. The man's body was found in the bedroom of his residence on Hogan Pond Road by firefighters when they arrived at the scene at just after noon.

The Fire Marshall's office says the victim Peter Lowe, age 55 lived alone in the waterfront home. Investigators will return to the scene on Thursday to determine what caused the blaze they say started in the man's bedroom.

This is the third fire fatality in the new year. An elderly couple died when fire destroyed their home near Greenville on Saturday.
