A Fairfield was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash in Waterville.

It was around 10 o'clock Wednesday morning when police responded to an accident on I-95 southbound. 73-year-old Bertrand Bard of Fairfield was driving his Jeep Laredo when he went to pass another vehicle and lost control. Bard's vehicle went off the roadway to the left and into the trees in the median. He died at the scene.

It's not known, at this time, whether he may have suffered a medical condition before the crash. State Police were assisted by Waterville and Clinton Police, as well as the Maine DOT and EMS.
