Ellsworth Christmas Around The World Parade
Ellsworth Christmas Around The World Parade is this Saturday afternoon so the only place in the entire world to be is in Ellsworth. This will be the 43th annual Ellsworth holiday parade.
Again this year it will be a light parade and will begin at 4 p.m., after the staging line up begins in the Knowlton Park area at 3 p.m.
And this year, the Grand Marshal with be our co-worker at Townsquare Media, Chris Popper. He’ll lead the 50 groups in the parade down State Street, along School Street, and then down Main Street until turning back up State Street and back to Knowlton Park.
Chris is active in sports broadcasting, also in media sales, and is the flagship of Down East Maine's WDEA radio station. He said:
I am honored to be leading the parade on Saturday. The weather looks great, and I can't wait to see everyone along the parade route and all the fantastic entries.
This being a light parade, those walking will be wearing glowing necklaces and/or lighted headbands and costume that are lit up too.
After the parade Santa Claus will greet kids at The Grand until 6:30 p.m.
The parade floats and participants were lit up last year to rave reviews, so the plan is in place to keep this idea going forward.
Prior to the parade, The Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will perform The Grinch at The Grand beginning at 1 p.m.
A lot of activities for all, and the parade with lights makes for a memorable family day.
Weather looks good, but if needed the inclement weather date is Sunday December 3rd at 4 p.m.
