Early Morning House Fire in Winterport Claims 2 Lives

Fire officials have tentatively identified two people who perished in an early-morning house fire in Winterport.

The Waldo County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call just before 4:30 a.m., according to Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss. Crews were dispatched to a house fire at 622 Stream Road in Winterport, including departments from Winterport, Monroe, and West Frankfort, as well as the Winterport Ambulance Service.

Two adults were deceased inside the house. While their identities will have to be confirmed by the Medical Examiner's Office, officials believe they are 29-year-old Raymond Cornelison and 20-year-old HannaMae McAllister. The two had been living in the home at the time of the fire.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office are expected to be on the scene for the remainder of the day, while they try to determine how the fire started. At this point, officials say there's no indication of foul play.
