An Eagle Lake man died earlier this week when his truck fell on him, as he was changing a tire.

State Police say 46-year-old James Dube was on a bear hunt with some friends, in an unorganized territory near Portage Lake. Shortly after 11:00 Tuesday night, he and his hunting partners had just shot a bear and were looking for it when Dube got a flat tire on the pickup truck he was driving. He decided to stay behind and change the tire while his friends went on ahead to located the bear.

When the others returned to the truck, they found Dube pinned beneath it. While he was changing the tire, the truck had apparently slipped off the jack. His friends freed him from the vehicle and tried to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful.
