The death of a man who was struck by a vehicle in a Biddeford parking lot on Monday has been ruled accidental, police said.

The body of Mathew Perry, 31, of Biddeford was discovered in the parking lot of Play It Again Sports on Alfred street.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office determined Perry suffered blunt force trauma to the head an chest when he fell to the ground and was run over by a vehicle, according to a press release from state police on Tuesday.

"The death was accidental,” the release said.

State police have finished their investigation, and the Biddeford Police Department has taken over the case.

It's not clear whether Biddeford police will pursue charges against the driver who struck Perry and then apparently fled the scene.

“We should know what direction the case is going in over the course of the next couple days,” Biddeford Police Deputy Chief JoAnne Fisk told the Portland Press Herald.

The driver has been identified by police and met with investigators overnight. The driver's name has not been released.
