2024 Crown of Maine Balloon Fest
The Crown of Maine Balloon Fest turns 21-years-old this year and is taking over the skies of Maine August 22nd through August 25th. The four days of hot air fun takes place in Presque Isle, ME of Aroostook County. Open the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest website, and you'll receive a quick history lesson as to why Maine is special when it comes to ballooning.
Aroostook County is steeped in ballooning history. In 1978, the Double Eagle II launched from Presque Isle and made the first successful crossing of the Atlantic. In 1984, Joe Kittinger became the first person to make the solo Transatlantic balloon journey, launching from Caribou. In 2013 Jonathan Trappe launched his attempted trans-Atlantic balloon flight using 365 individual helium balloons and established a world record for distance, when he landed in Newfoundland.
This is a Free Maine Event!
This is a free community event and features a packed schedule for the entire family to enjoy either all four days, or just one, however, dusk on Friday and Saturday evenings features the spectacular and beautiful moon glows where the ascending balloons light up the sky!
