The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says the commercial wrecker was making a delivery when the ground gave way beneath it.

It was around 9:45 Wednesday morning when deputies were called to Hills Way, off Harpswell Islands Road to a report of a truck in the water. When they arrived, they found the entire truck totally submerged in the ocean.

The wrecker, owned and operated by Harold Gray of Bowdoin, had been in the process of delivering a dock system to the waterfront when the ground gave way beneath it. No one was hurt in the incident that was resolved with the help of Copp Motors of Cumberland, who pulled the vehicle from the water. Authorities contacted the Department of Environmental Protection, but they didn't need to respond, as there was no discharge of hazardous materials.

No charges are pending.
