Christmas Day Snow In Bangor, ‘Brutal Cold’ Mid-Week
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Bangor and eastern Maine for Christmas Day, with a fast-moving storm expected to dump a significant amount of snow on the area.
The Bangor area is expected to see 6-10 inches of snow, with higher accumulations to the north and west, according to the latest NWS forecast. Strong winds also are in the forecast.
The forecast calls for snowfall rates up to 1-3 inches per hour with blowing and drifting snow. Travel will be hazardous, according to the forecast.
The winter storm warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Monday.
Forecasters also predicted a cold snap later in the week with low temperatures reaching -11 degrees.
