While the ‘I’m The Problem’ singer has enjoyed a decade of awards and success, it was a song written by a Mainer that first helped launch his career.

First off, we want to make it clear that we recognize the cream always rises to the top — the most talented people ultimately succeed, and Morgan Wallen is absolutely one of them. Wallen made his musical debut in 2014 at just 20 years old when he competed on season six of The Voice.

During his blind audition, he performed ‘Collide’ by Howie Day, impressing Shakira and Usher enough for both to hit their “I WANT YOU” buttons and turn their chairs.

Wallen chose Team Usher but later moved to Adam Levine’s team, where he was ultimately eliminated in the Playoffs round before any live voting took place.

During his time on The Voice, he performed several songs, including ‘Collide’ by Howie Day, ‘Hey Brother' by Avicii, ‘Story of My Life' by One Direction, and ‘Stay' by Black Stone Cherry.

Day’s hit ‘Collide’ is a big deal here in Maine, since Day was born in Bangor and raised in Brewer, where he attended Brewer High School.

The song appeared on his sophomore album ‘Stop All the World Now’ and went on to become the biggest success of his career, climbing to number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 a year after its release in June 2005.
