Bridgewater Crash Involves Sheriff’s Van Transporting Inmates

A sheriff's office van, transporting inmates to court, was involved in a head-on collision this morning in Bridgewater.

The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office says the van carrying two correctional officers and seven inmates was hit by another van that had spun out of control. The area was experiencing white-out conditions, at the time of the accident. Officials say everyone involved in the accident was treated for minor injuries.

Route 1 has reopened to traffic. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the accident.
