Brewer Woman Died Riding on the Back of a Motorcycle that Crashed
A Brewer woman died over the weekend when the motorcycle on which she was a passenger crashed in Waltham.
The crash happened Sunday on Waltham Road. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss tells us that 50-year-old Melissa Hatch of Brewer was riding on the back of a motorcycle when the driver, 51-year-old Darrell King, lost control on a sharp curve. The motorcycle was struck by an oncoming pickup truck and Hatch was killed in the crash.
The pickup truck's driver, 69-year-old Douglas Mcvay of Eastbrook, was not hurt.
Maine State Police say both people on the motorcycle were wearing helmets.
