A Holden Man is Accused of Allegedly Hitting a Brewer Pedestrian
Brewer Police have arrested a man from Holden for a hit and run on Eastern Avenue.
Who Was Arrested?
David MacKenzie, 51 of Holden is facing charges for the incident that happened around 8:30 Saturday night.
How Badly Was the Man Hurt?
Officers were called to Eastern Avenue in Brewer for a report of a car-pedestrian crash. When they arrived, they found an 87-year-old Brewer man who had been struck by a car. The driver had fled the scene, with witnesses telling police that the vehicle headed out Eastern Avenue toward Holden.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.
What Are the Charges?
Initially, police determined the vehicle involved was a silver Toyota Avalon. Further investigation led them to the residence of David Mackenzie of Holden. On Wednesday, members of the Brewer and Holden Police Departments executed a search warrant at Mackenzie's home on Clark Hill Road. Officials seized evidence during the search and arrested Mackenzie. He's been charged with two felonies, including leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and aggravated assault.
Police say the case is still active and more details are expected to be released at a later date.
