October is underway. Fall has definitely arrived. The mornings are cooler, and the humidity is gone for another year.

Looking forward, Halloween closes out the month of October. We might have the first snowfall in our area by then. We will have our first frost this week.

All good. But having grown up in Canada, and as a hockey player and hockey fan, my favorite thing in the month is the start of the NHL season.

So how will the new season go?

The Bruins could be a Stanley Cup contender if they are healthy. However first liners Charlie McAvoy and Brad Marchand are out month to month, and Taylor Hall is out week to week.

Bruins open next Wednesday, the 12th, in Washington against the Caps. And the home opener is Saturday the 15th against the  Arizona Coyotes.

Welcome to October. Drop the puck.
