A man died early Wednesday morning after encountering black ice on Interstate 95.

Stanley Swallow, 57, of Newburgh was killed this morning when his pickup truck overturned along I-95 in Hampden.

Troopers said he lost control on black ice and the truck struck guardrails and then overturned several times. Swallow was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown out of the truck, police said. He died at the crash site.

The accident happened at around 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lane of I-95, police said.

This is the 31st person to die on Maine roads this year, which is the same number as last year at this time.
