Best Time To Take a Vacation

I like to take 2 weeks off in the summer.  One early, right around my Birthday in late June. And the other as summer winds down, and the unofficial end mark of Labor Day comes.  My memory as a kid was always in August.  And always 2 or 3 weeks, depending how much time my Dad got off from work.  I recall asking him once why he always took the time off in August, and he was rather direct in that it was the best time to be on vacation. Like, why would you ask such a question.  It’s the best time.  Okay.

In the radio biz, in most cases we take our vacation, no matter how much or little one gets, a week at a time.  Mostly it’s only one person gone at a time, and for only one week.  I don’t think in all the years I’ve been doing this that I’ve ever had more than a week off at a time.  And I’ve vacationed in England.  And also in Italy.  All while only taking a week at a time.

I also have always loved having a week long break around Christmas.  Not that Christmas is that busy for me, I just find it a relaxing time to not have to get up in the middle of the night and go to work. Ho ho ho.
