Baxter State Park will delay the upcoming season for many activities within the park.

Officials at Baxter State Park have announced they will delay the upcoming season in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The park is closed until further notice to camping, vehicular traffic, and travel above the treeline.

Park officials said in a press release, all Katahdin and Traveler trails are closed at the trailheads. In addition, the Togue Pond and Matagamon gates will remain closed to vehicle access. Those with reservations impacted by the closure will be contacted by park staff to reschedule or issue a refund.

The park remains open to walk-in day use, below the treeline.
