Bangor Police have arrested a tenant of an apartment building where an unresponsive male was found on Saturday morning.

Officers and paramedics were called to the multi-unit apartment building at 64 Center Street, at approximately 11:00 on Saturday. When they arrived, they found a man in his mid-30's on the floor in an upstairs hallway. Paramedics from the Bangor Fire Department tried, in vain, to resuscitate the man. He was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the Bangor Police Criminal Investigation Division were called in to investigate. Detectives obtained a search warrant for an apartment near where the man's body was found and, as a result of that search, seized a handgun and a few thousand dollars' worth of suspected crack cocaine and suspected methamphetamine, as well as suboxone, and Xanax pills.

The tenant of that apartment, 37-year-old Ralph Tripp of Bangor, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of drug trafficking, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession, and one felony count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Police say, at the time of this arrest, Tripp also had a warrant for his arrest on the charge of failure to appear in court. He's currently being held at the Penobscot County Jail.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are likely.
