Police are investigating a large fight in Indian Township that left several people injured. Officials say they found homeowner Alex Tomah and a 17-year-old girl with serious injuries after a fight that involved at least 10 people, some of whom had been drinking. It's believed Tomah may have been hit by a car and the girl by a baseball bat.

An investigation into the overdose death of a Lewiston police officer indicates that he pocketed some fentanyl during a traffic stop. The Sun Journal reports that Officer Nicholas Meserve was captured on video picking the drugs up off the ground and officials say it appears he took some of it, out of view of the other officers.

Parents can stop by Quirk Chevrolet on Hogan Road between 10 and 1 on Saturday to have their child safety seats checked. Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical center is teaming up with Safe Kids Maine to make sure all car seats are the right size and properly installed, while checking for any recalls. Appointments can be made on the Safe Kids Maine website.

A fundraiser in Lincoln next week will benefit a Maine Forest Ranger who broke his neck in a boating accident. The benefit auction and pasta supper will run from 5 to 6:30 at Mattanawcook Academy on August 4th. Twelve students have spent this week learning about public safety at the Brewer Police Department's Junior Police Academy. The kids in grades 5 through 12 have been learning about police and fire through hands on activities. The student cadets will graduate today with a barbeque.
