Bangor, Maine News Update: August 21, 2019
State Police are looking for a Litchfield man in connection with the abduction of his girlfriend early Tuesday. The woman, who had texted 911 to police, is now safe, but Joshua Tilley is at large after fleeing his mother’s house on Dead River Road. Tilley is described as 5 feet six inches tall, 190 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. UPDATE: This suspect is now in custody.
A New Hampshire man is sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay 85 thousand dollars in restitution after leading Brewer Police on a high speed chase last August. The pursuit began in Holden and ended when Joshua Dube crashed into a fence on South Main Street in Brewer.
2-year-old Liam Semple of Ellsworth has had four open heart surgeries to deal with a rare birth defect that’s caused his heart to grow in backwards. His Mom and Dad are by his side, but it’s been tough, with mounting medical bills and a disabled car that forced them to borrow vehicles to make trips to Boston. Donations to help the Semple family can be made through Bangor Savings Bank.
A new program that aims to put a book in the hands of every Maine first grader, each month during the school year by 2025 will launch today in Brewer. Dirigo Reads will start out by helping students from six different counties, with the goal of covering the entire state.
After hearing that teenagers in Dexter didn't have anything to do in their spare time, a local music store decided to offer free guitar lessons. Anyone between the ages of 13 and 17, who's interested in the lessons, can stop by the store on Wednesday nights from 6 to 7:30, to learn some basic guitar skills.
