A man is facing charges for allegedly punching a man and his dog in Bangor.

Bangor, Maine, Police Say a Man and His Dog Were Assaulted on Front Street

Dirk Weber, 34, was arrested just after 2:00 Wednesday morning.

Bangor Police say officers were called to Front Street for a report of an assault. They located the victim, who officials say showed visible marks. Officials say Weber had allegedly punched the man's dog, and then punched the owner when he tried to intervene.

The officers questioned Weber, who was allegedly uncooperative. Once he was told he was going to be issued a summons for assault, Weber allegedly became even more disorderly, and was ultimately arrested.

Bangor Police say as Mr. Weber was being transported to jail, he reportedly struck his head against the cage in the police cruiser, and cut his forehead. He refused medical treatment at the jail and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Bangor, Maine, Police Say Front Street Assault Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

After being medically cleared, Weber was taken back to jail, where he was charged with:

  • Assault
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Refusal to submit to arrest

Weber was also charged with assault on a police officer after allegedly spitting in the face of one of the officers when he was being taken into custody.
