If you woke up this morning wondering how you could find a way to efficiently maximize your ability to help others... Tomorrow is your lucky day! The Bangor Humane Society and the Bangor Red Cross have teamed up to help each other out a bit on June 6th from 9am-1pm. They're holding a drive to benefit both of them, at the Red Cross Donation Center located at 900B Hammond Street in Bangor.

What's cool is not only can you obviously donate blood, but the Humane Society will also be taking donations in the parking lot for crucial supplies that they need to keep going right now. You can bring dog and/or cat food, pet toys, as well as new or used CLEAN sheets and blankets that can be used for bedding.

The Humane Society is also looking for cash donations if you can swing it, to help keep up with the medical demands of the animals in the shelter. Some animals need medication, future pets need to be fixed before adoption, etc. And monetary donations will help offset the upfront costs.

And of course, the Red Cross always needs blood, and platelets. Right now, during the COVID-19 crisis, the need is huge. And since surgeries are starting to be performed more regularly again, the need for blood and blood products will be immense.

Right now, everything is by appointment only, and all the slots are filled, but you can still come and sign up for another slot later on, and you can drop off your donations to the Humane Society, as they'll be all set up in the parking lot ready to accept your gifts.

If you can't make it out, but want to sign up to donate blood later, you can do that right now at RedCrossBlood.org.
