The Bangor Fire Department is inviting residents in for tours Thursday of the Hose 5 Fire Museum.

History has always been kind of a hobby for me, so I think this is pretty cool. When I was in high school, I worked as a volunteer tour guide for the Bangor Historical Society, who is co-hosting tonight's event at the Hose 5 Fire Museum.

Firefighters will be taking interested residents for tours of the historical firehouse that sits on State Street in Bangor. The station was built in 1897 and was an active fire station for almost 100 years. These days it's home to memorabilia and artifacts celebrating the Bangor Fire Department's rich history. The timing of this event is perfect, falling just days before the anniversary of the Great Fire of 1911 on April 30th.

Tours will run from 4:30 to 6:30, Thursday, April 25th, at the Hose 5 Fire Museum on State Street in Bangor. There will be wine and other beverages available, as well as snacks. This is a membership event for the Bangor Historical Society, so representatives will be available for people to sign up as new members or renew their current status. Find more information on the Bangor Historical Society website.
