Arctic Blast: Frigid Cold Temps For Bangor Area Monday

The week starts off with temps 15 to 25 degrees below normal for the Bangor and Downeast areas. A short-lived blast of arctic air will dive wind chills well below zero across much of Maine.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a bitter cold start to the week. Monday's highs are expected to top out around 18 degrees in the Bangor area. Forecasters say, as an arctic air mass moves into the state, gusty winds will dip wind chill values as low as 12 below. A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for northern Aroostook County and the North Woods, where wind chills will dip to near 20 below at times.

Forecasters say the frigid cold will be short-lived, as temps begin to rebound by Wednesday. Above normal highs return Wednesday and Thursday, topping out near 50 degrees. The spring-like warmth continues through the weekend. Mainly dry conditions are predicted throughout the extended forecast.
