Brewer Police are investigating an incident in which a man was briefly dragged by a car.

It happened on Chamberlain Street at around 3:00 Friday afternoon. Police received a call that a man had been dragged by a car and was unresponsive. The victim was awake and coherent, when officers arrived. He spoke briefly with police before being taken to a local hospital.

Witnesses told WABI-TV that the man had been talking to someone in a car, just before the incident. When the car started to move the man was running along with it, although it wasn't clear whether someone in the car was holding onto him, or whether he had reached into the vehicle. As the car accelerated, he was unable to keep up. He reportedly fell and hit his head. Witnesses said the car was a blue Chevy Cobalt, and there appeared to be two people inside. Police have not released the victim's name.

The investigation is ongoing.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
