2 Women Arrested in Drug Busts in Porter, Old Orchard Beach
Maine Drug Enforcement agents arrested two women in separate drug busts: one in Porter; and the other in Old Orchard Beach.
The first arrest came on the evening of April 20th, when MDEA agents and Maine State Police stopped a vehicle on the Maine Turnpike in Wells, driven by 33-year-old Cassandra Gasbarro of Old Orchard Beach. Gasbarro had been the subject of an investigation, during which officials learned that she would routinely travel out of state to purchase large amounts of fentanyl at reduced prices, and then bring it back to Maine to sell it at a profit.
A search warrant was issued for the vehicle on April 21st and, as a result, 265 grams (1/2 pound) of suspected fentanyl was seized. The approximate street value of the drugs is $45,000.
Gasbaro is charged with class A aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs. (fentanyl) She was transported to the York County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000 cash.
The second drug bust occurred on April 21st, when MDEA agents and Maine State Police executed three search warrants in Cumberland, York, and Oxford counties. The searches were part of an investigation into Jill McDevitt, 30, of Porter, who was suspected of selling methamphetamine throughout Southern Oxford County.
Agents and Troopers stopped McDevitt's Chevrolet Envoy on Route 25 in Standish, and produced a search warrant for the vehicle. After methamphetamine and suspected drug proceeds were seized from the SUV, McDevitt was arrested without incident. A short time later, the investigation moved to a storage unit in York County, rented by McDevitt, and then to her residence at 19 School Street in Porter.
In all, officials seized a total of 600 grams (1.3 pounds) of methamphetamine, and $58,000 in suspected drug proceeds. Also seized were items related to the weighing, packaging, and distribution of illegal drugs. The approximate street value of the drugs is $60,000.
McDevitt was arrested for class A aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (Methamphetamine) and transported to the York County Jail. Her bail was set at $100,000 cash.
