An 18-year-old Bangor man was injured when he was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of William H. Cohen School Wednesday, police said.

According to a Thursday news release from the Bangor Police Department, the incident at the school on Garland Street occurred at 9:45 a.m.

The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"According to witnesses, this incident occurred after the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was confronted by several individuals carrying weapons," the release said.

Police did not release further information on the accident.

We're told the driver of the vehicle has been cooperative, and the incident remains under investigation.
