The driver who struck and killed a dog in a hit-and-run accident Monday night has come forward, according to a Winthrop teen.

Devin Firlotte says his dog, Lexi, was hit by a car outside his home on Narrows Pond Road at about 6:45 p.m.

Devin says the person who was driving the car has contacted his father, who was outside with the dog when the accident occurred.

Following the accident, Devin said on Facebook that the car involved in the accident was a "silver Toyota Matrix appx year 2005-2008," and he urged anyone with information about the vehicle to call the Winthrop Police Department.

The name of the driver was not released.

Lexi was almost 2-years-old.
