Winslow schools are on 'Lockout' mode due to an ongoing situation in the area involving a suspect being sought by police. No students are at risk, according to police.

Winslow Police Chief Shawn O'Leary said in a media release that the person being sought is connected to a series of motor vehicle burglaries in the towns of Benton and Winslow. During an investigation into the burglaries, two people were arrested by the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office. However, one suspect is still at large and Sheriff's Deputies have been joined by Winslow and State Police personnel in the attempt to find the person and take them into custody.

The lockout at the schools was ordered for the safety of the students and staff since police K9 units are currently tracking the individual in the area of the school. Police say it's a precautionary measure, and no students or staff are at risk.  .
