Folks will be walking the Bangor Waterfront this Thursday, to help grant wishes for sick kids.

The Make A Wish Foundation works all year long, making the dreams of critically ill children come true. Last year, the organization fulfilled more than 15,000 wishes nationwide. That's one wish every 34 minutes. And the scope of those wishes varies widely, from fun trips , to bedroom makeovers or meeting sports heroes. And those wishes don't come cheap, so it takes a lot of funding to fulfill them. That's what Thursday's walk is all about.

Folks are encouraged to sign up individually or with a team to show their support and  help raise money for the future wishes of Maine kids. Registration begins at 5:00 Thursday afternoon on the Bangor Waterfront, and the walk starts at 6. Last minute walk-up registrations are absolutely encouraged by anyone who decides that they want to take part.

Walks will also be held on Thursday in Rockland, Auburn, and Portland. Find more information on the Maine Make A Wish Foundation website.
