Victim In Deadly Sidney Crash Identified

The Kennebec County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman who was killed in a head-on, two-vehicle crash in Sidney Wednesday night.

Laurie Garland, 47, of Sidney was pronounced dead at the scene, reports the Kennebec Journal.

Garland's car crossed the center line on West River Road and struck a vehicle occupied by two juveniles, Sheriff Ryan Reardon said in a news release.

The juveniles, who were not identified in the release, suffered minor injuries, and one of them was taken to the hospital.

Reardon said alcoholic beverages were found at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and it's unclear if any charges will be filed.
