Police say students at Eastport Elementary School and Snead High School were dismissed early on Tuesday due to a threatening phone call.

The schools were placed on lock down at about 8:30 a.m. after staff at the high school reported the call.

Police told WABI the caller threatened to enter the school and start shooting unless they were given an unspecified amount of money.

Police said a search of the two buildings turned up nothing, and they're still trying to determine who made the call.

Both schools will remain closed on Wednesday. Classes are expected to resume Thursday morning.
