A 19-year-old driver was hurt in a wreck in Grand Isle Monday morning, according to Maine State Police.

Police say Stephen Benbow of Frenchville was driving east on Route 1 when he veered off the road and struck a utility pole. His vehicle came to a rest in a small stream at the bottom of an embankment.

When Benbow was questioned about the accident, which occurred around 6:30 a.m., he told police he couldn't remember what happened, according to a press release sent out Monday.

Benbow suffered an injury to his left forearm.

Police say he was wearing his seat belt and speed was not a factor in the accident.
