Thunder Hole was booming on Tuesday, September 6th as Maine was feeling the effects of extra-Tropical Storm Hermine. There were high surf advisories and rangers in Acadia National Park closed the area so visitors wouldn't climb down.
Drivers in the Ellsworth, Bar Harbor and Bangor areas -- and everywhere in between -- should be ready for increased traffic this weekend. The combination of free admission to Acadia National Park Thursday-Sunday and the American Folk Festival in Bangor will bring thousands of people to the region.

The United States Post Office announced on Monday April 4th, that they will be issuing 16 stamps celebrating the National Park Service's Centennial in 2016, and the first stamp depicts the Bass Harbor Head Light.
