Acadia National Park Offers First Car-Free Morning

The National Park Service will close Park Loop Road to private vehicles from midnight to noon on Saturday, May 16th to encourage non motorized forms of travel like walking, biking, skateboarding, or inline skating.

Cell phones...what would we do without them? We'd probably be lost right? But could you do without the ugly towers that seem to be popping up all over? I notice it every day as I head to Levant from Bangor, you see beautiful scenery...with one very tall, very ugly cell tower standing high above all the trees! Well, with as many visitors as Acadia National Park sees every year, and the fact that cell service is very scattered in the park, they have approved a new cell tower to be installed, and if you're not careful...you may never even notice it's there...watch!

Acadia National Park Closed – Now What?

President Obama and his family visited Acadia National Park in 2010. Now, neither Obama nor anyone else can visit the park, which was closed Tuesday because of the government shutdown. Here are some suggestions from the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce for some things to do outside the park.
