Maine State Police say a semi on I-295 Sunday morning crashed through a guardrail, went down an embankment and struck some trees.

It happened when the driver of the semi, whose name has not been released, attempted to change lanes while traveling southbound in Falmouth, state police said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

We're told the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The roadway was wet, but police do not believe that was a factor in the crash.

The right lane on the southbound side of the road was shut down for 5 hours while crews cleaned up the accident.
