On Dec. 22, Netflix will premiere Bright, a new action movie starring, among others, Will Smith. Ahead of the film's premiere, its soundtrack -- featuring a cover of "This Land Is Your Land" by Sam Hunt -- has been released.

Hunt's cover of "This Land Is Your Land" is best described as slightly dark and haunting, with an almost hollow sort of melody; readers can press play above to hear it. Hunt is the latest in a long line of country artists who have sung the iconic song, beginning, of course, with folk singer Woody Guthrie. In 1940, Guthrie composed the song as a response to "God Bless America" and based its melody on a Carter Family song called "When the World's on Fire."

Bright follows the story of a Los Angeles Police Department officer, Daryl Ward (played by Smith) who lives in a world filled with both humans and mythical creatures, all of whom have co-existed in peace since the beginning of time. Paired up with Deputy Nick Jakoby, an orc (played by Joel Edgerton), Ward discovers an ancient magic wand, thought to be destroyed; its discovery alters the future and their world. David Ayer directed Bright, and Max Landis wrote its script.

In addition to Hunt, the Bright soundtrack also features Bastille, Alt-J, Portugal. The Man and many more.

Hunt's most recent single, "Body Like a Back Road," was released in February. It ruled the country charts for much of 2017 and comes from a yet-to-be-announced sophomore album from Hunt.
