Actor Robert Redford will deliver the commencement address at Colby College in May.

Redford is known for his roles in films such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and All the President's Men.

Redford, who founded the Sundance Film Festival, was recently dubbed “Godfather of Indie Film" by Time magazine.

"Throughout his distinguished career he has demonstrated a commitment to the open expression of ideas and the power of artful storytelling," Colby President David A. Greene said in a statement published by the Bangor Daily News. "We look forward to welcoming him to Colby and to hearing the insights he will provide to our graduating class.”

The college's commencement ceremony takes place May 24.

Redford will receive an honorary degree from the Waterville school.
