Nothing is more tragic than to have a healthy, loving dog euthanized because of shelter overcrowding. It happens all the time. But you can keep such a thing from happening thanks to the efforts of Starbright Animal Rescue in Glenburn.

Starbright Animal Rescue is not a shelter, but a group of caring individuals that help find foster homes for dogs until they are adopted by a loving family. To help in their efforts, they have partnered with Shoebox Recycling. For every pound of gently used shoes donated, .50 cents is given to the rescue. Shoes collected are distributed to the needy all over the world. It's a win-win proposition.

Our radio group in Brewer, Townsquare Media, is one of the drop off locations. Please gather up that footwear and swing it on by. We are located at 49 Acme Road in Brewer, and the donation box is right at the front entry way. We're open Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM.

Other drop off locations include Economy Motors, 640 Coldbrook Road in Hermon, and Husson University-Alumni Lounge Meeting House.
