A police-involved shooting in Presque Isle was caught on video, and shows the suspect walking quickly toward the officer.

The Attorney General's Office is currently investigating a police-involved shooting in Presque Isle. Officials say police received reports of a man, armed with a knife and bleeding, acting suspiciously near the McDonald's.

Officer Lucas Hafford responded to the call and instructed the man to drop his weapon When he failed to do that, Hafford allegedly deployed his taser, to no avail. When 29-year-old Derek Sam then allegedly approached Hafford in an aggressive manner, he was shot and wounded.

The video that was posted on YouTube by a witness to the shooting shows a man in a white shirt walking very quickly toward the officer. Hafford appears to fire three shots, and the man falls to the ground.

Sam was taken to the Aroostook Medical Center in Portland for his injuries, and was later taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. There's no word on his condition. The BDN reports he's been arrested by Presque Isle police three times in the past year on multiple charges, including domestic violence assault and theft.

Officer Hafford has been placed on paid administrative leave while the AG's office investigates, standard procedure in a police-involved shooting.
