State police are investigating the discovery of remains found at a home in Fairfield.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said the remains appear to be the result of a recent pregnancy.

He said police were called to a mobile home on Norridgewock Road on Sunday and the remains were found in an adjacent garage.

The remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta.

So far, no charges have been filed.
