Police Identify Man Killed In Damariscotta Crash

Police have released the name of the man who was killed Monday in two-vehicle crash in Damariscotta.

Shannon Gilbert, 76, of Boothbay was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Route 1 near Main Street, the Lincoln County News reported Tuesday.

Gilbert was driving southbound in a 2007 GMC 1500 pickup truck, when his vehicle collided with a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Jason Spear, 45, of Rockport, police said.

The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, Damariscotta Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police and the Damariscotta Fire Department responded to the scene.
