It was announced this week that the Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington is going up for auction, due to unpaid taxes.

Anyone traveling down Route 15 through Orrington will pass by a large historic barn with a mural, belonging to the Wiswell family. Across the street is Orrington's Rocky Knoll Country Club, a beautiful 72-par course that features a clubhouse and restaurant. The primary owner of the club is Barbara Bagley, with minor partners Dan Grover, Bob Phillips, and Louis Daigle.

According to the BDN, the facility has been struggling in recent years, and is delinquent on taxes for all three accounts connected to the business. The property includes 156.53 acres, part of which belongs to the bank, while the rest is leased land. Now, the club and course are being put up for auction in its entirety, including the property, the club and restaurant facilities, carts, and maintenance equipment.

The preview for the auction will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 1st, and the auction will begin at 1 a.m. on March 15th. Here's hoping they find new owners, because that drive on Route 15 just wouldn't be the same in the summer without the carts and golfers!
