Orrington is home to a variety of fun activities all week, including the very popular Endless Yard Sale.

When is the Endless Yard Sale?

Most people from outside Orrington who hear about Old Home Week immediately think of the Endless Yard Sale, which features sales all over the community during one weekend. This year, it's July 14th to the 16th, and I understand there are already over 100 households and organizations who have signed up to take part. It's a great chance to have some fun and find some treasures. I've found a heavy Carhartt hoodie for my husband for $5 and an adorable Santa figurine for me, among other things over my years of attending.

What Else is Going On?

But the week is about so much more than just the yard sale. There's the SegdeunkeDuck Regatta and Picnic. For just $10, you can buy a rubber duck and then cheer it on as it races against other ducks down the Sedgeunkedunk Stream, next to the Kozy Korner Store on Johnson Mill Road.

Each year, I submit photos to the Old Home Week Photo Contest. My best finish, so far, has been a second-place ribbon for a duck picture I took, ironically enough, on the Sedgeunkedunk Stream.

This year, I've submitted photos of a fawn, a rain-kissed rose, and an egret, all taken in Orrington. All the photo entries will be on display in the Orrington Public Library, which is located in the Center Drive School. By the way, there's also an amazing used book sale in the library, with paperbacks on sale for 50 cents and hardcover books for $1.

The 19th Century Curran Village gets in on the fun with rides on their historic carousel all week and the Kids STEAM History Day Camp. Fields Pond Audubon Center has a family-friendly scavenger hunt, and all of the Orrington churches are hosting lunches or dinners for the public.

Where Can I Find a Schedule of Events?

The entire schedule can be found on the Orrington Old Home Week Facebook page. We hope to see you for some family fun with the friendly people of Orrington.
