Miranda Lambert's new album, The Weight of These Wings, isn't due out until Nov. 18, but in advance of the project's release, she's sharing one of its songs, "Keeper of the Flame." Readers can press play above to hear the dreamy new tune.

"Keeper of the Flame" finds Lambert reflecting on her role as "the keeper of the flame / The teller of the story / The keeper of the flame / For the ones that came before me." There's an ethereal quality to the song's melody and instrumentation -- and even to Lambert's vocals -- throughout the track.

"I'm walking in their footsteps / I'm singing their old songs ... I'm bent, but I'm not broken / I'm stronger than I feel / I'm made of flesh and bone, not made of steel," the country star sings in the song's first verse. In the second verse, she croons, "Sometimes I'm just a flicker / A candle in your eye / But I swear to God, I'll never let it die."

"Keeper of the Flame," the song from which Lambert's summer tour drew its name, will appear on the Heart, the second disc of Lambert's The Weight of These Wings double album. The first disc is titled the Nerve; fans who saw Lambert this summer got to hear one of that disc's tracks, "Covered Wagon."

Anticipation has been building for The Weight of These Wings, especially in light of the singer’s well-publicized divorce from Blake Shelton. The aftermath of that relationship was detailed in Shelton’s If I’m Honest, and Lambert has been clear that her album will also be … well, honest.

“Every record I’ve ever made has been a reflection of where I am right then in my life, however old I am. And I’ve never held back at all,” Lambert explains. “But this time, with what I happened to be going through in my life, being honest was never really a choice. Everybody knew anyway. So I just said, I’m gonna journal it, and — good days and bad days — use it for my art.”

Don’t expect The Weight of These Wings to be a sad breakup album, though.

“I’m never gonna have an album that’s quote-unquote a ‘heartbreak album’. Because everybody has bad moments, and then you come out of it, and you have a great moment, and then you have some somber times,” she says. “I want an emotional journey, because that’s what life is, and I want to document that.”

After releasing The Weight of These Wings on Nov. 18, Lambert will begin her 2017 Highway Vagabond Tour on Jan. 26 in Evansville, Ind.
