A man in Parsonsfield, apparently upset with his son over late rent payments, was arrested after police say he intentionally damaged his son’s mobile home with a front-end loader.

John Bubar, 50, was charged with domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Bubar picked the home up and dropped it on the ground at least three times, said York County Sheriff Bill King.

Witnesses told deputies that Bubar then began to drive the bucket of the vehicle into the home but stopped when he learned his 7-year-old grandson was inside.

Bubar’s son, Michael, 27, lives in the mobile home with his family on his father’s property.

“Apparently, a dispute arose that day about rent payments and debris around the mobile home,” King said. “John Bubar took the extraordinary step of using a large construction grade front-end loader and backhoe to damage the mobile home.”

Bubar is being held at the York County Jail on $5,000 cash bail. He was scheduled to appear Monday by video at Springvale District Court.
