Maine’s only participant in the Summer Olympics has qualified for the finals of her competition.
The U.S. women’s eight-person rowing team qualified for the finals by winning its heat Sunday on Dorney Lake in Windsor, England. Eleanor Logan of Boothbay Harbor is a member of the team. Logan also won a gold medal while a member of the team in the 2008 Olympics. Unbeaten in six years, the U.S. team was dominant in Sunday’s heat, winning by about two boat lengths ahead of Germany and Britain.
