A truck driver who died after he fell and struck his head while adjusting his load in Massachusetts has been identified as a man from Aroostook County.

Wayne Barnes, 43, was pronounced dead following the accident along Interstate 495 in Haverhill Tuesday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Barnes was transported to Lawrence General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, after a man driving a MassDOT van found Barnes in the breakdown lane on the north side of the highway around 6:15 p.m.

The accident remains under investigation.
