Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly robbed a Lewiston wine store and violently assaulted a woman who works there.

It happened Saturday afternoon at the Vault, a high-end wine shop on Lisbon Street, according to the Sun Journal.

Store owner Keith Tannenbaum said a female clerk was "brutally" beaten by the man and required a trip to the hospital. She has since been treated and released from Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Police hope surveillance photos released on the Lewiston Police Department's Facebook page will help them identify and locate the suspect.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Detective David Levesque at 513-3098.
