A Lebanon man was arrested and charged with selling fentanyl early Thursday morning, according to a news release from Maine State Police.

Around 4 a.m., Francis Sinclair, 61, was arrested at his home on River Road and charged with trafficking in schedule W drugs.

Drug agents and state troopers searched the home and seized approximately 50 grams of a suspected heroin-fentanyl mix, which is the equivalent of 500 doses, the release said.

Police said 11 firearms, some $2,000 in suspected drug proceeds, electronic scales and other evidence of drug trafficking were seized from the home.

Sinclair was transported to the York County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000 cash.

Police said fentanyl is 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin. The two drugs are often mixed together, or sometimes users buy fentanyl thinking they're purchasing heroin. Because of the drug's potency, users are at an increased risk of overdosing.
